As a mother of two young children and a daughter of a former Dallas police officer, strengthening public safety, and in particular the safety and security of our local schools, is a top priority for Amanda. She will work hard to increase neighborhood community policing programs, add additional police officers to our depleted police force and strengthen the partnership between Dallas ISD, its police department, DPD and the city, to provide more safeguards for our schools.
As a real estate broker, Amanda has witnessed the impact that skyrocketing appraisals have on homeowners - especially seniors on a fixed-income. She knows the everyday struggle for homeowners is that appraisal values keep climbing. Amanda says the city isn’t doing enough to provide relief. She believes that as appraisals keep going up, property tax rates should correspondingly keep going down.
We need leaders who will stand up and fight for greater transparency and against corruption at city hall. Unfortunately, current councilman Paul Ridley pushed to defund the new Office of Inspector General. Amanda will work hard to ensure a higher ethical standard is required of elected officials. She says the city also needs to post online the required personal financial statements that candidates and officeholders are required to file.
